A Bit of Humor...

I just wanted to take a minute to share some funny things Katy has been saying. She never ceases to crack me up. I have no major pictures to share yet. I know I am way behind in blogging. Kyle is doing great. He will be 19 weeks tomorrow and has two bottom teeth. This of course has made not sleeping at night the major thing to keep me busy and exhausted. He weighs 16lbs and 11 oz. Anyway...I will be sharing pictures of costumes and Harvest Festivals as soon as I have them ready.

While riding in the car with Phillip and I the other day, Katy asked "Mommy why didn't Jesus make me a Mexican? I really wanted to be a Mexican girl." Phillip and I held in our laughter the best that we could and I gave a generic reply that basically said I was glad that Jesus made her just as she was and I wouldn't be happy with her any other way. She replied," Well when I grow up I want to be Mexican".

I was getting ready for church this past Sunday morning while listening to Katy sing one of her many colorful made up songs(hmmm....wonder where she gets that from?) and it went something like this."Every time I celebrate baby Jesus being born, the animals come to his manger and sing him a song, and Santa Clause comes to see him too, and the giraffes bow down and loooooooovvvvveeeeee him" anyway the song went on for quite awhile. It had no particular melody. I forgot to video it as usual.

Katy politely asked my dear 76 year old grandmother the other day why she had "cacks"(cracks) in her face. My grandmaw responded "Because I am old" and Katy said "Well when I get old I hope I don't have cacks like that"

New Name Written Down In Glory....

My cousin Kayla always sings this song in a rather humorous way to her children after they have been dedicated. (At least she did to Dylan) I am not making fun of the song but remembering her rendition and having sung it to Kyle...I thought it appropriate to name this post. We had Kyle dedicated to the Lord 2 Sundays ago and we do take this very seriously and note it to be a very special and joyous occasion. It was a simple and sweet ceremony that we had our Pastor, Ken Rice perform for us. (I guess "perform" may not be the best choice of words but you know what I mean) We got lots of pictures and had a nice day of fellowship and worship with our family.
Kyle and Katy have both been sick this past week. This is the third time that Kyle has been sick in his 14 weeks of age! Katy has now been sick twice since school started and this time was diagnosed with Bronchitis and put on Antibiotics and breathing treatments. Kyle didn't have quite as bad of a case thank goodness. I can honestly say that I am "sick" of sickness! During one of the doctor visits we had Kyle weighed again and he weighed 14 lbs 12.5 oz as of 3 days ago!! He is a little porker. He eats all of the time but he sleeps from 8pm until 6 or 7am! I am very blessed in that department I know. He has been sleeping this well since about 2 weeks old.
In other news we have nothing really newsworthy to report We are just enjoying our little family and all of the ups and downs of everyday life. Katy stays busy in K-4 and learning new things. We are enjoying her being there 3 days a week and so is she! I did miss her terribly at first but I have learned that I can do all sorts of things that are better done when she is not there i.e. going through old toys and clothes. She is a pack rat! I call her "Hattie" because I was always told that when my Aunt Hattie came to visit anyone that she brought everything in paper grocery bags for the stay and I always found this to be very humorous. Katy travels around the house making small stashes and piles of all sorts of things in bags and boxes and calls them her treasures. Very annoying indeed.
We are very much looking forward to a trip in November to Louisiana to see family and to celebrate my home church's 50th anniversary. We are very excited since we rarely get to go to La and we will be staying for a week or more! I will leave you with some photos now and since I am now holding a fussy Kyle I will say bye!!

Making Sausage and more....

This past week my father and Phillip went and got all of th stuff to make "Andouille". It is a heavily smoked Cajun sausage that we are not able to get here and we all use it often. We usually try to stock up on it when any of us go to Louisiana but we have long since been out of it. My dad and Phillip love to smoke meat, grill meat, make sausage and usually don't have the time to do it. They had a blast and we will definitely enjoy the fruits of their labor in many gumbos to come. I think we did approximately 11 or more pounds of meat to make it with so we are set for awhile at least. I helped chop, mix and taste of course.

Kyle is growing like a weed. I suspect that he weighs around 12 pounds or more. He eats and eats and eats. I am nursing him for 20-30 mins at a time and then he sometimes takes a formula bottle of 4 oz right after! Katy started K-4 this week and absolutely loves it. We managed to get a picture of her with her teacher Mrs. Hollie.I have also put many pictures on Facebook for those of you that have one. I have found that it is much easier to upload a lot of pictures at once on there. Enjoy the pictures.

Blog Worthy?

Hello fellow bloggers! I promise that in the next few days I will have something on here worth seeing and hopefully worth reading. I can't seem to get into the groove of blogging these days with my new little one keeping me on my toes. Katy starts K-4 on the 20th for 3 days a week. I am torn between excitement and sadness for my "baby" will no longer be with me everyday as she has been since birth. I know it will be a wonderful experience for her both socially and educationally. We did a lot of research on this school and we know another couple in our church who have their kids there. It is a large Baptist school in town and so far we like what we see. So...when she starts school next week maybe I will have time to upload some new pictures of her and Kyle. For now...well...just a short update. We will also be starting some speech therapy with her that has been ordered by her doctor. I am not sure how often or to what extent, but we will be getting her speech evaluated at our local public school to find out. Her doctor says that he can understand about 85% of what she says and that for a four year old he should be able to understand 100%. I of course, being her momma, understand everything. We were hoping she would grow out of it but she hasn't so far. Her doctor says that usually the therapy is more effective the earlier that it is started. She has trouble saying her Y's, S's, and L's among other things. For example she pronounces "They" as "Say" and "yes" as "less", "snake" as "nake", "School" as "Cool" and so on...you get the picture. Please pray for us as we start out on this new adventure.
Please remember me in your prayers for a physical touch. I am still having some very annoying and painful problems associated with being pregnant and having the baby. You know what I mean there ladies? Well if ya don't then oh well...pray for me anyway that I will get better and not have to end up having surgery(which is what I have been told that I will have to do by my MD and several other people)I promise pictures next week. Until then........tootles!

New Pictures

Just wanted to quickly share a few pictures from the last 3 weeks. I have tried to post them in order from birth to three weeks. I will try to blog something meaningful later. I know you all will be waiting with bated breath!! Thanks for checking in. BTW these pics are just random of Kyle, Katy and our family in general. One is with one of my OB Docs at his circumcision checkup. After looking at the preview of the post...I realized that I didn't post the pics chronologically...sorry...oh well.

So Busy...

Just a short note to say I do plan on putting new pics on soon..probably today. I have had a few physical problems since having the baby..no biggie, just aggravations more than anything. I have been extremely busy with Kyle and trying to take care of Katy also. I feel like my schedule has been..nursing, changing dipes, nursing, nursing, changing dipes, nursing okay you get the picture. My wonderful hubby went back to work several days ago and we all miss him soooo much. He was a HUGE help in the three weeks that he was off. We enjoyed having the extra time together as well. I will try to get pictures on this evening...I know it is awful that I haven't done so sooner....he is three weeks old today!! Bye for now....

C-Section Scheduled

Hello everyone. Just wanted to let you all know that I am scheduled for a repeat C-section on Tuesday the 24th at 6:30am. I had to end up having one with Katy and will have one with this one also...just too scared of the risks involved with having it vaginally. I am nervous but very ready and excited. I went to my regular OB appointment yesterday and I am still not dilated but the baby had really dropped. I would love to go into labor and get it over with but it doesn't look like that will happen. I was originally suppose to have my surgery today but I opted to wait until the Doctor that I wanted to do it was available. He is on call all weekend though so just maybe I will go into labor. I will try to post pictures as soon as I can but I know I will be in the hospital for a few days. Thanks for checking in and I would appreciate all of your prayers!

Last minute details

So.... last night my hubby, Katy and I went shopping for last minute things that I have been needing for the baby. One of which was a carseat/stroller combo. I have been shopping around for the best deal so I didn't end up with one like Katy had. It wore out really soon and kept pinching her arms when adjusted. I found the one I wanted at Target. I also got some more burp cloths because there is a certain kind that Target carries that I love. Of course while there and at Burlington Coat Factory (which by the way has one of the largest baby departments of any store I have have ever been in) I perused the baby clothes. I didn't get any of course because I have been pretty blessed with newborn sizes up to 9 months. I am almost overloaded! I will have to change him every hour!! I, along with my mother and grandmother, have hit the consignment sales since I found out what I was having. This may not meet the approval of some, but around here we have about 4 major consignment sales per year that go on in Spring and Fall and you can get things with tags still on. I wait until the last week when everything is 50-75% off. I pretty much cloth Katy from these sales with the purchase of new accessories on the side. Anywhoo... I got lots of last minute things accomplished yesterday. I even managed to get lots of cleaning done in my house and get the baby's room finished. I am sure everyone is ecstatic and jumping for joy while reading this post, but I just had to seal my sense of accomplishment with writing about it..sorry!! Hopefully in a few weeks my blog will be filled with pictures of the new baby(haven't totally settled on a name yet) Tootles for now...

Lurkers....

It has been very interesting for me to see all of the people that visit my blog since I have added the live traffic feed on my side panel. Please feel free to leave an "appropriate" comment even if I haven't met you. I would very much like to know who all of these people are from all of these cities and other countries where I really don't know anyone. Thanks and continue to visit! :)

Pictures, Family, and Upcoming Birthdays

.

Visitors from home....Mr.Billy and Mrs. Patsy Schwartze, from Louisiana, stopped by for a few hours on their way home from vacation in the Smokies!! We were happy to see them.
I look absolutely horrid in this picture, but oh well...here it is anyway.
This post is going to be a mixed bag of sorts. I had meant to do a Mother's Day post but haven't been feeling like sitting in front of the computer a lot so...I didn't. Katy's birthday is coming up the first week of June and since I have 5 weeks before the new baby comes and am pretty miserable now...I am going to go ahead and do a birthday picture post now in case I am not feeling up to it later. We usually have a party for her, but with everything going on this year we have decided to take her to Chuck E. Cheese and invite a few friends and family. Yesterday I took her to a local garden that is maintained by the city of Spartanburg. Those are the pictures above in the slide show. I have taken her there before for pictures, but not while I was 34 weeks prego and in 85 degree, very humid weather. I wasn't as pleased with the pictures as I have been before but oh well...they are still cute.
Katy has been and continues to be a blessing to us everyday of her life! Mommy and Daddy thinks she is a smart, beautiful, and always funny little girl. She so enjoys Sunday School and absolutely adores her teacher. She loves her Paw Paw Tony and Maw Maw Joy and as she calls her the "Other Maw Maw" Ruby. Her favorite foods are quite surprising for a 4 year old. They include raw carrots, raw onion, sliced tomatoes, any kind of tossed salad...and of course being of a cajun background ..GUMBO!! Here are some pictures from birth up till now.

Something to get you thinking.....

Several weeks ago I was reading Tracy Bowen's blog. My husband knows her from childhood and I happened upon her blog from someone else's and have enjoyed reading it ever since. She posted about Cystic Fibrosis and had a link to a blog about it. I won't go into detail. You have to read it for your self. I went to it and read it from beginning to end and have kept up with it since. It is written from the perspective of a husband whose wife was born with CF and got pregnant, against doctor's advise, had the baby prematurely(at 24 weeks) and is now still in the hospital(as is the baby) after several months. The blog also has some great photography and really puts things into perspective. The husband is a photographer as well as a pastor. Read it!! You won't be sorry. It is a great ongoing story of faith and courage. The link is http://www.cfhusband.blogspot.com/

Double Baby Shower

Today the ladies ..."Women of Worth", gave a baby shower for me and another girl that is pregnant in our church named Autumn. Autumn is 36 weeks and I am 28. It was very nice of them to do this for us as this is my second and her third. We received lots of nice things that will be put to much use very soon. Thanks so much ladies!!! The men had a devotional in the church while we had the shower in the fellowship hall and then joined us later for a cookout. Great fun was had by all. Autumn and I....I look so much bigger to be 8 weeks behind.
Below we were acting silly as you can see!!

We got so many nice things.....lots of diapers!! Yay!!!
It was mainly a supplies shower, but we both got some nice outfits as well.
